The Club Sprint events are held at RAC DTEC, Perth International Airport. They are run entirely on bitumen using the full venue including skidpans and the full road circuit with courses ranging from 4.35km – 5.08km in length. Each course will test the acceleration, braking, and general manoeuvrability of the vehicle, along with the skill and judgement of the driver through the correct course. These events have been developed for Car Clubs to use as rounds of their Club Championships - MC Motorsport.
This is a timed event and is open to all comers - up to 45 cars can contest the event so there is plenty of room for BMWs.
The event is being run by MC Motorsport, not our club, so registration and payment is via their website. Go to www.mcmotorsport.com.au and follow the menus from there.
From the Home page, go to Sprint Events, then Club Sprints. Have a look at the map for the course on 7 June, then click on Book Online Now (top right in red).
Select the Motorsport Course option, then the Club Sprint option below that. Page through the calendar to June and click on the 7th (it should be green) and then complete your booking and payment from there. The cost is $120.
This is a serious event so you need an AASA licence and your car needs a properly mounted fire extinguisher - read and download the Club Sprint Supplementary Regulations on the Club Sprint page for all the info you need. If you are unsure about how best to mount an extinguisher in your BMW, fire off a question to our Club Forum and a member who's done it before will tell you how - it's easy enough, for most models.
Any other questions, send me an email at redrobins@bigpond.com and I'll try and answer asap.
