BMW Car Club members have been invited to join fellow like minded motoring enthusiasts for a Classic Car Midweek Run. The runs occur on a Thursday each month between March and November and have operated for many years. The format is that cars assemble at the starting point, set off together and finish for lunch at a country hotel with ample parking. Total run time is usually around two hours driving time plus 30 minutes mid way toilet/pit stop. Directions are given by way of a line diagram and should be uncomplicated enough to allow for a driver to manage without a navigator. A simple questionnaire is part of the run and the entry fee of $2 per head is split amongst the top three winners of the questionnaire. The run is subject to weather and the decision to go ahead is made on the Monday prior to the Thursday run date.
The next competition event is the HSV Wanneroo Raceway Sprint on Sunday 17th August. The event is suitable for both experienced and first timers and instruction can be provided. Entrants will be split into three groups according to experience and expected lap times, and will consist of a warm up lap, a series of timed laps and a cool down lap. Up to 10 entrants will be allowed on the circuit at one time released from pit lane with suitable gaps in between. It is not a race in that overtaking in the corners is not permitted.
Interested BMW Club members should apply on line at the HSV Owners Club of WA website, where they can also view the Supplementary Regs which provide full details. The cost is $300 + day membership of the HSV Club $25 + AASA basic Day Licence $50. Entries close on14th August.
