A Driver Training afternoon at the DRM Training Centre at the airport, that will involve members, their cars, some instruction and some solo untimed laps of the track. A maximum of 18 participants, on the track in small groups, means that every driver will get plenty of track time.
The intent is that drivers can appreciate the performance of their cars on a closed track but their will be no pressure on drivers to compete or to go any faster than they wish.
Car preparation is as follows: Street-legal roadworthy cars (preferably BMWs) with roadworthy tyres set at 35-40 psi (cold). All fluids topped up and no leaks. Nothing loose in the car or boot.
Driver preparation: Long-sleeved clothing (wrist to ankle) and closed shoes (preferably joggers). Your own helmet (a proper car or bike race helmet, not a BMX helmet) if possible, though a few spare helmets may be available at the track.
Drivers may share the use of a car with wives and partners but each driver will pay the fee and be alone in the car.
The Club will provide soft drinks and water throughout the afternoon.
The fee is $100 per driver and Registration is required (click on the Register button). Payments can be made as part of the registration process and must be received before the event. Wives and partners can register as Guests.
Registration will become available in early March.
